Adult, Continuing Education & Extension Centre of Jadavpur University was created in 1983 with UGC assistance to provide Continuing Education to workers, technicians and professionals. In 1986 activities were broadened to include Adult Education - literacy and post literacy. During IX Plan Extension and Field Outreach activities were recognized as third and fourth dimension of University education. In November, 2001 the Centre emerged as a full-fledged academic Department of the University under the Faculty of Engineering & Technology. It was incorporated with newly constituted Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Law and Management.

HIGHLIGHTS:
(i) UNESCO-NLM Award
(ii) B.Ed. (Special Education) in Locomotor Impairment and Neuromuscular Disorder and Mental Retardation are among the first few Programmes in the Country with RCI Approval.
(iii) Continuing Education Courses.
(iv) 6 extension centers - 3 in Rural and 3 in Urban Areas.
(v) Vocational Training Programme Children provided annually in 2 Centers.
(vi) Vocational Training Programme for Physically Challenged and Chemically Dependent.
